Alexander Kaminski is Cardiac Surgeon at the Department of Cardiac Surgery, University of Rostock, Germany.

He graduated at the Faculty of Medicine in Rostock in 1997 and started his carrier in cardiac surgery in Rostock (1998) and Bogenhausen Hospital in Munich (1999-2000). He stays in Rostock since 2000 and has becoming a basic scientist beside his clinical education. He developed different experimental models for investigation of lung ischemia, myocardial infarction and cardiac stem cell therapy in mice under instruction of his Director Professor Gustav Steinhoff. He became a specialist in analysis of microvascular flow behaviour of bone marrow stem cells. For this he obtained the Hancock Award of German Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons in 2006. Today he is responsible for clinical stem cell therapy during cardiac surgery in Rostock.

Dr. med. Peter Donndorf (investigator)

Peter Donndorf is resident at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Rostock. He is investigator within the clinical study PERFECT at the RTC.

He studied medicine at the University of Rostock and received his doctor's degree at the Department of Cardiac Surgery in Rostock. 
He did his clinical training at the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Kuopio in Finland and in Switzerland: Here he worked at the Department of Surgery at the Hospital St. Gallen and the Swiss Cardiovascular Center in Bern. In 2009 Peter Donndorf came back to Rostock to start his specialist training as a cardiac surgeon.

Sandra Bubritzki (study nurse)

As study nurse Sandra Bubritzki is responsible for structuring and realisation of the processes regarding the stem cell study PERFECT. Additionally she is assisting at the explanation of bone marrow and is doing the preparation and separation of CD133+ cells from bone marrow using Miltenyi CliniMACS.

After her degree as hospital nurse she was working for 3 years at the intensive care of the University of Rostock. Afterwards she was working for 7 years in the medical function diagnosis department of the clinical anaesthesia. In this time she gained many different experiences regarding the clinical daily routine in patient’s care and assistance in medical function diagnostic.

In 2004 she moved her job to the German Foundation for Organ – and Tissue Transplantation, since 2005 she was working for the German Society of Tissue Transplantation as administrator for the coordination waiting lists and distribution of tissue transplants. Additionally she was involved in different projects of strategic development of companies relating to tissue allocation and data processing.

Jessica Klasen (medical data manager)

Jessica Klasen works as a Medical Data Manager at the RTC study center. She is responsible for the documentation of all relevant data concerning stem cell therapy and corresponding follow-ups. She is also involved in the structuring and implementation of the phase-III-study PERFECT.

Jessica Klasen served in the German A ir Forces as office clerk and paramedic for eight years. 2008 she started an apprenticeship as Medical Data Manager , which she finished successfully in 2011. Since 2009 Jessica Klasen supports the implementation of clinical studies at the paediatric oncology unit of the Rostock university clinic.

Petra Paschen (study nurse)

As study nurse Petra Paschen is responsible for realisation of the processes regarding the stem cell study PERFECT and for the after-care of all patients who went through a stem cell therapy.

After her degree as a hospital nurse Petra Paschen worked for 6 years in the cardiac, thoracic, transplant and vascular surgery at Hannover medical school, where she passed a two-year qualification as a surgical nurse. After that she worked as a surgical nurse at the German Heart Institute Berlin for 2 years. Since 2004 Petra Paschen is working at the Clinic and Policlinic for Cardiac Surgery at the University of Rostock.

Former employees

Dr. med. Can Yerebakan
worked as a physician and investigator at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Rostock from 2006 to 2010. He focused on experimental research regarding the potential of stem cell therapy in the treatment of congenital cardiac pathologies. In 2010 he changed to the Children`s National Heart Institute in Washington, USA.
