RTC – Mission
At the Reference- and Translation Center for Cardiac Stem Cell Therapy (RTC) at Rostock University new stem cell therapies for heart diseases are investigated and applied. Our goal is to enable the long-term healing of the damaged heart on the basis of Regenerative Medicine.
As a translation center, the RTC manages the complex process starting from basic research over early development to the point of approval and application of stem cells as standardised and quality-checked therapies. The methods and techniques developed at the Translation Center are meant to provide a reference for further research projects on stem cells in the future.
RTC activities comprise: preparing applications for market approval of novel therapies, clarifying questions of reimbursement, extensive training of users, physicians and patients, and providing information for the public. The RTC considers itself as a service provider for scientists, physicians and patients.
